Click for detailAs problems were encountered with cast-iron drain covers in the tunnels for the Great Belt Link, a cost-effective solution was obtained with CRC covers. With a height of 40 mm and a concrete cover of only 10 mm it was possible to guarantee 100 years of design life in an aggressive environment with a strength that was more than adequate. More than 40,000 covers were produced.
The project was initiated because of interference with the electrical installations from the cast iron covers, which required electrical insulation of each cover. The choice of CRC covers solved the problem and it also gave a considerable cost reduction.
